Now you can make your very own toy Kero!

This doll is about 15cm tall and very cute.

Materials:

Felt - Colors gold, yellow and white
Ribbon - About 12-15cm for tail
Embriodery Thread - Black for embriodering face
Cotton - Colors to match the felt
Stuffing

General Stuff

All the stitching on Kero is done on the right sides over the top of the seam. This is because I don't have a sewing maching and it seemed easier to sew it by hand this way.

These diagrams indicate where to stitch in red, you should use a cotton color that matches the felt, not red :)

Step 1 - Pattern:

There are four pattern pieces for Kero (body, ear, wings and tail). Included in these pictures are the sizes at which they should be printed, if you can not print out the pictures at the right scale you can copy the pattern pieces onto graph paper of the right scale. Each sqaure of the graph paper that the patterns are drawn on is 5mm, therefore 2 sqaures = 1cm, and 5 squares = approx 1 inch.

Once you have made the pattern pieces cut out as follows:

Body - 2 pieces from gold felt
Ear - 2 pieces from yellow felt
Wings - 1 piece from white felt
Tail - 2 pieces from white felt

Step 2 - Preparing the back:

Sew on Kero's wings to his back piece by a single row of stitches down the middle of his wings.

Take the ribbon for Kero's tail, and sew one end to a tail piece

Place the other tail piece on top of the ribbon and sew the tail pieces together

At the other end of the ribbon, fold down about 1cm, attach the folded down ribbon to Kero's back. (the ribbon is folded over so that it doesn't fray, try to stitch it so that none of the edge is showing.

Step 3 - Preparing the front:

Sew on Kero's inner ears to the front piece.

Use the black embrodery thread to make Kero's face, if you don't know how to do this, just draw his face on with a black pen (A waterproof pen is probably best).

Step 4 - Sewing the body:

This may not be the best way to do this, but here is how I did it.

Start sewing at the neck and sew down his arm and all the way to just under the opposite arm.

At this point you should stuff the first arm, and the two legs.

Sew around the second arm, then stuff this arm and the rest of the body.

Step 5 - Sewing the ears:

To give Kero's head more shape the ears are sewed seperately.

Sew across Kero's head as shown in the picture, then sew around the outside of the ear leaving enough space to put stuffing in. Stuff the ear and then sew up the rest of the ear. Repeat for second ear.

Step 6 - Finishing Kero's head:

There are now 3 sections left unsewn, at the top of his head, and the 2 sections between his ears and neck. Pick 2 and sew them up, use the last one to stuff Kero's head, then sew this up.
Now that kero is finished you might want to make him some accesories.
